Hyderabad: A three member gang who duped several persons by posing themselves as personal assistants and support staff to senior State government officials were caught by the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force (north) team on Tuesday.
The police seized Rs 1.03 crore cash, a car, mobile phones, toy pistol and identity cards. The suspects were identified as Avushodapu Sudhakar (36), S Naga Raju (35) and B Bheemaiah (32).
Hyderabad Police Commissioner, Anjani Kumar, said Sudhakar observed the functioning of government officials and in order to maintain a luxurious lifestyle, started targeting innocent persons.
“Sudhakar along with his associates would convince the gullible victims that they were working as personal assistant to various high level government officials and could help them in availing government benefits. He collected money from around 100 persons on pretext of arranging government jobs, double bedroom houses, loans etc,” said Anjani Kumar.
The trio also got printed identity cards to make people believe their claims, he added. After a few of the victim lodged complaints with the police, the Task Force (North) team caught them.
