Hyderabad: Tiger on cattle-killing spree captured on camera traps in Yadadri Bhuvanigiri
A tiger involved in cattle killings in Telangana’s Yadadri Bhuvanigiri district has been captured on camera traps in Turkapally mandal. Forest officials have deployed special teams and trackers to monitor its movement and urged villagers to remain vigilant.
Hyderabad: The tiger that is on a cattle killing spree in the Yadadri Bhuvanigiri district was filmed using camera traps set up in the forests in Turkapally mandal.
According to sources, the tiger is about five years old and weighs roughly 250 kilograms. “It is a healthy tiger. It is moving around the human habitats located near the forest and hunting the cattle for food in the absence of any prey such as deer, wild cattle, or wild pigs,” said an official.
The tiger returned to the forest in Yadadri Bhuvanigiri, after almost seven decades, point out the villagers, while the forest officials maintain there is no recorded history of tiger presence in this particular belt.
To track the animal trackers from different reserve forests in the State arrived in the district and are working along with the local forest officials to track the movement of the tiger. Special teams were formed in view of the present scenario.
The higher officials of the forest department on Tuesday visited the Dattaipally, Ibrahimpur and Ralla Janagaon villages in Yadadri Bhuvanigiri district and inspected the ‘cattle killing’ spot.
The senior officials instructed the officials to be on alert and maintain constant vigil in and around the forest area. They also urged the villagers to be on alert and watchful.
