Hyderabad: Two held for cheating in the name of selling Covid drugs

Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Cybercrime police arrested two persons on charges of cheating people in the guise of selling Remdesivir, Amphotericin-B injections and oxygen cylinders here on Monday.
The arrested persons were G Rajkumar Rao (34) from Gudimula Kandrika in East Godavari of Andhra Pradesh and S Divakar (32) from Kurnool, AP.

According to the police, the two recently became friends on Facebook and met at Kuppam in AP, took a room in a lodge and started doing online frauds.
“As per their plan, they posted advertisements on Facebook that they could supply Remdesivir injections, oxygen cylinders and Amphotericin injections to Covid patients. When those in need contacted them on phone, they collected money as advance and delivery charges, but did not deliver the medicines,” an official said, adding that recently, they cheated a person of Rs 1.1 lakh. A complaint was lodged and a case was booked, after which they were arrested.
Similar cases were booked against them at Krishna Lanka in AP and Suryapet in Telangana earlier.
