Hyderabad: Two persons died on the spot and three others were injured when two cars crashed into each other at Kokapet on the Outer Ring Road on the city outskirts at Narsingi on Friday morning. Police suspect drunk driving could have led to the mishap.
The incident occurred around 5 am when Pradeep Chandra (24), along with his friend Vishwanath (25) and others, was proceeding from Hayathnagar towards Nagarjuna Sagar for a long drive. According to the police, they were planning to go to Nagarjuna Sagar but got confused with the route and came towards Kokapet side by mistake.
“After travelling some distance, they realised it was a wrong route and Pradeep who was driving the car turned the vehicle and started returning on wrong side. They crashed into a cab coming in the opposite direction injuring three persons including a minor boy,” police said.
While Pradeep Chandra and Vishwanath died on the spot, Mohd Ali, the cab driver, Pavan and Bharat were injured. They were shifted to a nearby private hospital for treatment. Their condition is said to be stable.
