According to the police, Niharika was found dead in the bathroom of her home in Venkateshwara Nagar on November 12.

Investigations revealed that Madhava Reddy visited her house after confirming she was alone, strangled her to death and stole her ‘mangalsutra’, gold earrings, three gold rings and cash.

“To mislead investigators, he shifted the body to the bathroom and staged it as an accidental fall before leaving the house. He later mortgaged the stolen gold at a finance company under his friend’s name and borrowed Rs 3 lakh,” police said.

Special teams tracked the suspect with the help of CCTV footage, field verification and technical surveillance and nabbed him. A bloodstained sweater, two mobile phones, a bike and other material were seized.
