Nehru Zoo Park in Hyderabad celebrated World Elephant Day by treating its beloved elephants, Vanaja, Asha, Sita, and Vijay to a lavish spread of fresh fruits, vegetables, and specially made 5-kg cakes. The female elephants also enjoyed a peaceful 3-km walk within the zoo.

For the first time, a wolf under the zoo's care is expected to give birth, with authorities anticipating the arrival of three to four whelps within the next one to two weeks. The zoo currently houses three grey wolves—two males and one female. "We are thrilled to welcome wolf pups. This is the first time it will happen under the zoo's supervision," said a senior official.

As temperatures continue to drop in the city, heaters have been placed in the night houses of carnivores, primates, and bears to protect them from the extreme cold, especially at night. To prevent foot cramps in carnivores, which are common during winter, the zoo authorities have also provided wooden planks in their night houses.
