Karimnagar: Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Sunday expressed confidence that he would win the Huzurabad Assembly seat if he contested the by-poll. “I am staying away from this poll to avoid a by-poll in Siddipet Assembly constituency,” he said.
The Minister was responding to repeated challenges thrown by BJP leader Eatela Rajender asking Harish Rao to contest from Huzurabad. “Rajender, who is frustrated, has been humiliating Dalit MLAs. The BJP leader has not only lost his patience, but also wisdom. With the fear of losing to an ordinary TRS party worker, Gellu Srinivas Yadav, looming large, Rajender has been challenging me to contest from Huzurabad,” he said.
“I will definitely win in Huzurabad, but Srinivas Yadav is enough for Eatela. There is no need for me to contest from Huzurabad” he said, after welcoming about 500 BJP activists from Illandakunta mandal into the TRS fold in Jammikunta.
The Minister said all sections of the people were coming forward to ensure victory for Srinivas Yadav. “Every day, hundreds of people are joining TRS,” he pointed out, adding that some people had earlier supported Rajender without knowing facts about the BJP leader. “All of them, however, are now returning to the TRS fold after coming to know the facts about Rajender,” he said.
Harish Rao said people were giving a warm welcome to Srinivas Yadav. On Saturday, auto mechanics came forward to pay the nomination amount for Srinivas Yadav while 3,000 Munnurukapu community people have decided to support TRS, he said.
Terming the BJP as anti-Dalit, tribals and minorities, Harish Rao said the Union government failed to constitute a separate Ministry for BC communities, reservations for BCs in elected bodies, and BC enumeration across the country.
