Hyderabad: A webinar on ‘Emerging Business Models & Opportunities for Existing Businesses in post-pandemic World’ was conducted by ICFAI as part of 11th WiseViews interactive webinar series on Friday.

Delivering the talk, serial entrepreneur, GrowthStory.in and promoter – BigBasket, Portea Medical, HomeLane, Krishnan Ganesh compared the traditional and new age business models in the post-pandemic world. The traditional business model effectiveness was measured by terms like EBITA (Earnings before interest, taxes, and amortisation), gross profit margin etc., while the new age business models focus on rapid scaling to acquire more customers without focusing on the return ratios, he said.

Ganesh said the Covid-19 pandemic has badly affected sectors such as the cruise industry and entertainment. The dependency on in-house entertainment has increased the viewership of television and a surge in consumption of streamline video on demand services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime etc., he said. The hospitality sector also faced a significant negative impact as customers were forced to stay away from restaurants and cafes, he said.

The webinar was moderated by ICFAI group academic director Prof R Prasad and ICFAI group branding director Prof Sudhakar Rao. About 250 entrepreneurs, research scholars and prospective students from across the country participated in the webinar.
