Hyderabad: ICFAI Chancellor Dr. C Rangarajan, on Saturday, stressed the need to apply updated domain knowledge in every sphere of development studies.
Launching the PhD programme in Development Studies & Public Policy of ICFAI School of Social Sciences, he said as knowledge was expanding fast, the structure of the programme has to be deliberately made challenging for the enrolled scholars.
Terming development studies as multi-disciplinary in nature, Dr. Rangarajan said it relates to the other existing disciplines like economics, political science and statistics. “Political science enables one to understand how the benefits derived from the application of the principles of economics are distributed in society,” he said.
Andhra Pradesh former Chief Secretary Dr. Sameer Sharma; ICFAI Vice-Chancellor Dr. LS Ganesh; ICFAI School of Social Sciences Director Dr. CS Shylajan; ICFAI former V-C Prof. J Mahender Reddy; and ICFAI School of Social Sciences Dean Tamma Koti Reddy also spoke.
