Surplus water is being released from Kumram Bheem project in Asifabad district on Wednesday
Adilabad: Several parts of the erstwhile Adilabad district registered light to moderate rains, recording an average rainfall of 50 mm on Wednesday. Hill streams were in spate and irrigation projects received copious inflows.
Mandamarri mandal recorded the highest rainfall of 65.8 mm, followed by Kannepalli mandal which registered 61.3 mm of rainfall. Jannaram, Dandepalli, Luxettipet, Hajipur, Kasipet, Bellampalli, Kannepalli, Jaipur, Bheemaram, Chennur and Nennal mandal saw above 40 mm of rainfall.
Kumram Bheem Asifabad district registered an average rainfall of 50.1 mm. While Jainoor mandal saw the highest rainfall of 106 mm, Rebbena mandal recorded the rainfall of 79.1 mm.
Tiryani, Kerameri, Sirpur (U), Asifabad, Penchikalpet and Dahegaon mandals witnessed somewhere between 40 and 60 mm of rainfall. The actual rainfall of the district was 542 mm as against 403 mm from June 1 to July 21, suggesting an excess by 34 percent.
Adilabad district’s average rainfall was assessed to be 44.9 mm. Indravelli mandal received the highest rainfall of 83.9 mm, followed by Narnoor mandal which saw 83.5 mm of rainfall. Utnoor, Neradigonda, Adilabad Rural, Ichoda, Sirikonda,Gadiguda had somewhere anywhere between 40 mm and 60 mm of rainfall. The district recorded actual rainfall of 618 mm as against normal 412 mm so far, showing an excess of 50 percent.
Streams and rivulets were in spate following rains in upstream areas. Kaddam Narayana Reddy Project received inflows of 15,923 cusecs. The project’s water level reached 6.379 tmc as against total storage capacity of 7.603 tmcs. Surplus water was discharged by lifting two gates. The outflow was 12,430 cusecs. Kumram Bheem Asifabad had inflows of 1,300 cusecs.
In the meantime, Sripada Yellampalli project received inflows by 87,440 cusecs. The total water level reached 19.73 tmcs as against 20.175 tmcs. Surplus water was discharged by lifting a gate. The project recorded outflows of 87,440 cusecs.
Rains affect coal production in SCCL OC mines
Khammam: Continuous rainfall for the past few days has disrupted coal production in SCCL’s opencast (OC) mines in erstwhile Khammam district.
According to officials, about 25,000 tonnes of coal production was hampered in a day in the OC mines in Kothagudem, Yellandu, Manugur and Sathupalli. There has been continuous rainfall in Yellandu and Kothagudem areas since last night.
Four mandals, Dammapet, Manugur, Dummugudem and Gundala in Kothagudem district received heavy rainfall while the other 13 mandals received moderate to rather heavy rainfall during the past 24 hours. The district average rainfall was 45.5 mm.
In Khammam all the 21 mandals witnessed light to rather heavy rainfall in the past 24-hours with a district average of 15.3 mm. Meanwhile, the rains have also disrupted normal life and vehicular traffic as the water flooded low areas in Khammam and Kothagudem district headquarters.
