Hyderabad: India is set to mark a historic milestone as the nation comes together to celebrate 20 years of Earth Hour. On March 28, from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm, the country will witness one of its largest-ever participations with some of the most iconic monuments, heritage sites, and government buildings switching off their lights in a show of solidarity for the planet.

In Hyderabad, iconic landmarks like Golconda Fort, State Museum, Buddha Statue, Dr B R Ambedkar Statue and Charminar will turn off their lights in solidarity for Earth Hour. Lok Bhavan, Telangana State Assembly and Dr B R Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat have also come forward to join the global environment movement.

L & T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited and WWF-India Hyderabad office are joining together to observe Earth Hour at the Ameerpet Metro concourse tomorrow from 7 pm to 9.30 pm. Band Raagam and students at Sattvika School of Bharatanatyam and Carnatic Music will talk about environment protection through art.

Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has confirmed the switch-off of all ASI-protected monuments across the country, making this a truly pan-India movement of historic proportions.
