Indian Oil set up final with Indian Railways in 57th Nehru Senior Hockey Tournament

Hyderabad: Indian Oil defeated a spirited Indian Navy 4-2 in shootout after a 2-2 draw in regulation time to enter the final at the Gooncha 57th Nehru Senior Hockey Tournament, at the SCR Sports Complex, on Monday.

They will take on Indian Railways, who downed PNB 4-0 in the other semifinal.
The first semifinal was a closely-fought contest. Indian Navy took the lead in the 12th minute with Jugraj Sing’s field goal while Kuldeep doubled the lead in the 20th minute.


However, after the half-time, Manpreet Singh scored a goal in the 42nd minute while Talwinder Singh, in the 48th minute, found the back of the net to force a shootout. In the shootout, Manpreet, Talwinder Singh, Raheel Mohd and Sumit Kumar scored goals while for the Indian Navy, only Rajbhar Pawan and Nitesh found the back of the net.

In the other semis, Pardeep Singh scored two goals while Ajmer Singh and Ajay Yadav scored a goal each as Indian Railways crushed PNB with consummate ease.

Results: Indian Oil 2 (Manpreet Singh 1; Talwinder Singh 1) drew with Indian Navy 2; Indian Oil won 4-2 in shootout; Indian Railways 4 (Pardeep Singh 2; Ajmer Singh 1; Ajay Yadav 1) bt PNB 0.
