Adilabad: A beneficiary of the Indiramma housing scheme alleged that a contractor built their house with poor quality, but was forcing them to sign a promissory note for payment of Rs 6.30 lakh instead of the estimated cost of Rs 5 lakh at Kota (K) village in Sonala mandal on Thursday.
The beneficiary Lokande Deeksha told reporters that the contractor Kamble Satyanarayana was harassing her husband Maruthi demanding Rs 1 lakh which was sanctioned (correction) under the housing scheme. She accused Satyanarayana of threatening to raze her house if they refused to pay.
The woman requested officials to protect her family from the harassment and threats by Satyanarayana. She recalled that the contractor had tied Maruthi to a pole after he refused to pay Rs 1 lakh in full public view at a bus stand in Sonala mandal centre on Tuesday, humiliating her and her husband.
