Karimnagar: Karimnagar rural police busted an inter-State dacoit gang and arrested four of its members besides seizing Rs 10,000 cash, two bikes and five mobile phones from them.
Presenting the accused before media persons here on Wednesday, Rural ACP J Vijayasaradhi explained the modus operandi of the gang.
Though the gang members were engaged in different works, they have been kept in touch with each other regularly and commit crimes by identifying shops located on national and state highways as well as shops located in the outskirts. After committing the crime, they flew from the spot by stealing bikes parked nearby.
On July 5 this year, gang members broke open the shutter of a fertilizer shop in Alugunur in the outskirts of Karimnagar town and fled with Rs 37,000 cash. At the same time, they also steal Rs 5,000 from a supermarket located in front of a fertilizer shop.
Taking the incident as a challenge, Karimnagar police commissionerate officials formed a special team under the supervision of Additional DCP (Administration) G Chandramohan to nab the gang.
The special team arrested the gang members at Renigunta toll plaza on Wednesday. They are Simma Shankar, Guntur, Ulleda Mallesham, Chudupalli of Chittoor district, Thalari Naveen Kumar, Hindupur of Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh and Gunsri Gupta alias Deepak of Uttar Pradesh.
On interrogation, they confessed the crime of committing burglaries in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh besides ten places in Telangana.
