Inter-state thief arrested, gold jewellery worth Rs 32 lakh recovered in Khammam

Khammam: Khammam CCS and the Two Town police have arrested an inter-state thief involved in multiple thefts and recovered gold jewellery worth Rs 32 lakh.
Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, ACP (Town) SV Ramana Murthy said the accused, Kambampati Yesobu alias Kandula Suresh Reddy, a centering worker from Athkuru village in Madhira mandal, had been committing a series of burglaries at locked houses during the night over the past few months.
On Tuesday evening, while conducting vehicle checks in the city, the police detained and questioned him after finding his movements suspicious. During interrogation, he confessed to committing thefts in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and said he had previously served jail terms.
The ACP said the accused was involved in 22 previous theft cases. Over the past year, he allegedly committed four thefts under Khammam Two Town police limits, three under Khanapuram Haveli police limits, and one each in Vemsoor, VM Banjar, Chillakallu and Tiruvuru.
Police seized gold jewellery weighing 32 tulas, worth Rs 32 lakh, and silver jewellery worth Rs 40,000 from the accused. Inspectors Karunakar, Balakrishna and Bhanuprakash, along with SI Ramesh, were present.
