Mancherial: The seventh International Yoga Day was observed in different parts of the district on Monday. Yoga asanas competition was held to mark the occasion.
Dr Sukumar KN and Dr P Sameer, organisers of Mythri Yoga and Nature Cure Centre (MYNCC) of Mancherial conducted a special online class of yoga, meditation and pranayama for practitioners belonging to the town and present on social media platforms. They both explained various benefits of yoga, meditation and breathing exercises.
Dr Sukumar advised the public to practice yoga asanas to keep various at bay including the deadly Covid-19. He stated that various studies proved that yoga was an effective way for staying mentally, physically and emotionally fit. He added that the breathing system could be strengthened by practicing Pranayama. He gave prizes to winners of competitions conducted in view of Yoga Day.
In the meantime, Bhagavadgeeta Adyayana Mandali, a religious organisation, conducted a practice session of yoga by maintaining physical distance under the guidance of Yoga expert Dr G Krishna Reddy. The practitioners performed various yoga postures, practiced breathing exercises and meditation for nearly 2 hours and were empowered on benefits of the ancient and non-sectarian holistic healthcare system
By following guidelines of Covid-19, people from all walks of life took part in forming of asanas conducted in sports grounds and streets. Local public representatives participated in the events and urged the citizens to follow the yoga to be healthy in many aspects. Eminent practitioners of Mancherial, Chennur and other parts of the district were felicitated by voluntary organisations.
