Hyderabad: The ACB and Vigilance authorities have gathered all the crucial information with regard to the encroachment of endowment lands belonging to Sri Sita Rama Swamy temple at Devaryamjal in Medchal Malkajgiri district. In a couple of days, they are likely to submit a report to the IAS Officers’ Committee which is investigating all aspects of the issue including lands encroached by former Minister Eatala Rajender and his family.
The officials have come to the conclusion that about 35 registrations were carried out transferring nearly 100 acres of endowment land in the name of the encroachers. The fraudsters also misused the government’s ‘Anywhere Registration’ facility to register these lands from non-local sub-registrar’s offices. The investigation has further uncovered that about 160 illegal structures were constructed on these lands.
So far, the investigating agencies questioned over 60 officers and employees from whom they obtained complete information. They investigated how the land registrations and mutations were allowed by the revenue officials, permissions given by the Panchayat Raj and municipal officials for construction of godowns and other structures, and power connections provided by the electricity department, among others. They also examined all documents pertaining to the endowment lands including link documents besides inquiring into the manner in which lands were registered despite prohibitory orders.
The authorities also obtained copies of important documents belonging to the Nizam-era Pahanis from the State Archives to ascertain land ownership. They reportedly came to a preliminary conclusion that the lands belonged to the endowment department and have been encroached over several years. They are also likely to recommend necessary action against the encroachers as well as officials of different departments who colluded with the former and helped them enjoy the properties.
