IPS trainee booked for sexually harassing batchmate at Hyderabad police academy

An IPS trainee at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad has been booked for allegedly sexually harassing and assaulting a fellow woman trainee. The accused, Uday Krishna Reddy, is alleged to have sent abusive messages, intimidated her, and physically assaulted her.

Hyderabad: The Attapur police have registered a case against an IPS trainee for allegedly sexually harassing, assaulting and criminally intimidating a fellow woman IPS trainee officer at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), Shivarampally.

According to the police, the victim alleged that the harassment began on June 23 and continued over several weeks. The victim alleged that the accused, identified as fellow IPS trainee Uday Krishna Reddy, sent her sexually abusive messages through WhatsApp and made derogatory remarks about her in Telugu before other trainees.

She alleged that Uday Krishna falsely accused her of having a relationship with another trainee officer and repeatedly pressured her to admit to the allegation. The accused allegedly abused her with derogatory terms.

The victim further alleged that the accused intimidated and blackmailed her into showing him her personal mobile phone messages. Ten days ago, he allegedly took away her phone and forced her to reveal its password.

On the night of July 9, the victim alleged, the accused wrongfully restrained her, forcibly took her to his room, grabbed her by the hair, attempted to strangulate her, held a knife to her neck and prevented her from leaving.

The victim further alleged that the accused physically assaulted her on July 10. She also alleged that he groped her, attempted to touch her private parts, secretly recorded a private video without her consent and sent it to her husband to blackmail her. She further accused him of spreading false and degrading information to tarnish her reputation.

Based on the complaint, the Attapur police registered a case and have initiated an investigation.
