Sangareddy: Beginning with the Kanche Gachibowli lands, the allotments and attempts to allot lands during the tenure of former Telangana Industrial and Infrastructure Corporation Limited (TGIIC) chairperson T Nirmala Jagga Reddy created many issues for the Congress government and party leadership.

As the tenure of Nirmala, wife of TPCC Working President T Jagga Reddy, came to an end on the last day of July, the delay in renominating her to the same post had shifted focus again onto the allotments made during her tenure. There were serious allegations that the people involved with the land allotment in Annaram in Gummadidala mandal had accepted Rs 1 crore to Rs 1.5 crore as a bribe before officially allotting the land.

Meanwhile, the TGIIC also allotted lands at multiple places in Sangareddy Assembly constituency, from where Jagga Reddy hails. The TGIIC allotted 280 acres in Munidevunipally, 187 acres in Arur, 107 acres in Cheriyal, 77 acres in Peddapur, 60 acres in Aliyabad and 32 acres in Uttarpally, apart from allotting hundreds of acres in the erstwhile Medak and Telangana.

There were serious allegations against these land allotments in these industrial parks. While there was an allegation that some people had accepted a huge amount as a bribe before the land was actually allotted, some others alleged that the lands were allotted to Congress leaders, their close associates and benamis.

In the wake of all these allegations, the Congress leadership was reportedly thinking of avoiding giving the same corporation to Nirmala again, even though Jagga Reddy has been strongly lobbying for the same post. Even though Jagga Reddy tried to impress Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy during a recent public meeting organised in Sangareddy, and the high command by installing the statues of Jawaharlal Nehru and Rajeev Gandhi in the town, Jagga Reddy failed to get any strong assurance from the Chief Minister on renewal of the chairman’s post.

In a cryptic social media post in March this year, Jagga Reddy, who served an ultimatum to the Congress leadership, said that he would make a major announcement in July when exactly his wife’s tenure came to an end. However, he was now seen saying that he would make such an announcement in November.

The contradictory statements indicate that the Congress Party may not take any decision on renewal of corporation posts until November while speculations were making rounds. Meanwhile, all the aspirants for corporation posts and nominated posts at district level were putting in all-out efforts for their chance.
