Hyderabad: The management of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) in Hyderabad is making special arrangements to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the Radha Madanmohan Mandir at Abids, which completes 50 years this August. The celebrations are scheduled to take place from August 15 to 18.
The Radha Madanmohan Mandir was built in 1976 at Abids, near Nampally Railway Station road, and was inaugurated by ISKCON Founder, Srila Prabhupada and the former Chief Minister of United Andhra Pradesh, Jalagam Vengala Rao. The temple is marking its 50th anniversary this year, Raghavendra Yadav, one of the members of ISKCON management, said.
The temple features the deities of Gaura-Nitai, Jagannatha, Baladeva, Subhadra, and Radha Madana-Mohana. Management conducts daily pujas, aartis, and various spiritual offerings, he said.
Over the years, the temple has become a noted spiritual centre and a must-visit for regulars and tourists alike in Hyderabad. Hundreds of devotees participate in daily rituals that are organised meticulously by the ISKCON management.
The ISKCON Hyderabad is organising four days of grand celebrations to commemorate the golden jubilee. The festivities will feature talks by renowned spiritual leaders, cultural presentations, devotional music, and special ceremonies including Sudarshan Yagna (August 15), Pushpa Abhishek (August 16), Chappan Bhoga (August 17), and Maha Abhishek (August 18).
Evening celebrations will be held at the Exhibition Grounds, Nampally, between 4 pm and 9 pm, featuring a sand art presentation depicting the journey of the temple in Hyderabad, a commemorative film, a dance drama, a coffee table book launch, and a ‘What’s Next After 50?’ vision presentation.
The golden jubilee celebrations will also honour individuals who contributed to the temple’s growth and include a Shobha Yatra, cultural performances, and bhajan sandhyas. Entry is free for all, and management plans to distribute over 5 lakh plates of prasadam during the event.
