Hyderabad: A two judge panel of the Telangana High Court comprising of Chief Justice Hima Kohli and Justice B Vijaysen Reddy on Wednesday directed the Central and State Government to issue detailed directions pertaining to identification of unorganised workers across the State.
A PIL was filed by C Damodar Rajanarasimha seeking a data base of unorganised workers and further to formulate a comprehensive policy for their rehabilitation. The Government Pleader pointed out that State Security Board has been constituted. The panel directed the State Government to obtain information on social schemes and take steps to examine the welfare schemes and file a report before the next hearing. The matter has been adjourned to August 25.
Harassment complaint
The said Panel called upon the Government to file an additional affidavit in a petition complaining of harassment of a tribal woman by the police in Bhadradri-Kothagudem District. Eshwaramma Konduru in July 2019 addressed a letter to the Governor complaining against the police. She alleged that the SHO of the local police station had detained her husband and father in law from the stated date from 8AM to 9PM. The allegations were denied.
The District Superintendent of Police filed a report giving their version on the matter. D Prakash Reddy, Amicus pointed out to various contradictions in the said report. It was pointed out that the police on summoning the detenues had stated that it was a civil dispute between the complainant Bheemala and the family members of Eshwaramma. The Amicus pointed out to the court that from the case diary there were multiple contradictions about the time and duration of the detention. He also pointed out that if the SI had come to a conclusion that it was only a civil dispute, then he ought to have summoned the complainant and not the accused and the story did not fall in place. The Panel wanted the Amicus to prepare a chart of the various contradictions. The matter has been adjourned to September 1.
