Suryapet: Launching a scathing attack on the Congress government for its dismal performance in key sectors, former minister and Suryapet MLA G Jagadish Reddy said the government’s inefficiency has led to widespread mismanagement and unfulfilled promises and left people in distress.
He criticised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for neglecting departmental reviews, claiming that the State’s governance deteriorated considerably. “No sector in the State is functioning properly. The Chief Minister seems more focused on criticising BRS leaders than conducting meaningful reviews of government departments,” he remarked.
Highlighting the dire state of education, Reddy pointed to deplorable conditions in government hostels, where wardens are forced to personally fund meals for students due to unpaid bills for essentials like eggs. “Hostels are surviving on the mercy of vendors because the government has failed to clear dues,” he said, calling the situation “pathetic.”
Referring to the conditions in the health sector, Reddy expressed concern over the lack of medicines at Suryapet Area Hospital, which he claimed had earned national recognition for its services during the COVID-19 pandemic. “Patients visiting government hospitals have no assurance of receiving proper treatment due to shortage of essential medicines,” he stated.
He accused the government of failing to deliver on its promises to farmers. He highlighted the shortfall in Rythu Bharosa scheme, where only Rs 6,000 crore of the promised Rs 12,000 crore has been disbursed, and a promised bonus of Rs 10,500 crore for farmers remains unpaid. He also criticised the government’s handling of urea distribution, alleging that farmers demanding fertilizers are being booked in police cases.
Reddy also took aim at the Police Department, the only sector he acknowledged as functional, but urged Suryapet and Nalgonda SPs to maintain impartiality. He alleged that police officials are intimidating opposition leaders by summoning them to stations for forwarding complaints. “From Peddapuram to Mellacheruvu and Dindi, we hear reports of police harassing opposition voices. The police must work for the people, not as agents of the Congress party,” he cautioned.
He criticised the government’s handling of the SLBC (Srisailam Left Bank Canal) project and slammed the decision to hand over the Kaleshwaram project investigation to the CBI, alleging political motives. “Rahul Gandhi calls the CBI a political recruitment centre for the BJP, yet the Chief Minister hands over cases to them. If needed, hand it over to the FBI for fraud investigations,” Reddy quipped.
