Jammikunta CI selected for Jeevan Raksha Pathak award

Karimnagar: Jammikunta Circle Inspector K Srujan Reddy has been selected for the ‘Jeevan Raksha Pathak’ for saving the lives of two labourers. He is the only officer from Telangana State to be selected for the prestigious award. President Ramnath Kovind will present the award to Srujan Reddy soon.
Srujan Reddy was selected for the award for his swift and courageous move to save the lives of two labourers in Madipalli of Jammikunta mandal on May 28, 2019. Two youths, Ollala Mallaiah and Marepalli Ravinder, got down into a narrow well to deepen it but fell unconscious after inhaling toxic gas formed in the well as it had not been used for a long time.
On getting to know about the incident, Srujan Reddy immediately rushed to the spot and alerted fire services officials. Simultaneously, without wasting time, he got into the well with the help of a rope. He tied the unconscious labourers to the rope and they were pulled out and shifted to Jammikunta hospital for treatment. Besides the local population, all sections of society across the State including Ministers praised the brave initiative of the police officer. Home Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali personally appreciated Srujan Reddy.
In another recognition earlier, Jammikunta police station was also adjudged as the 10th best police station in the country for 2020 in the rankings given by the Union Home Ministry every year. The rankings were declared in the first week of December, 2020.
Based on services such as maintaining law and order, control of crime, early detection of cases, swift response to public issues and maintaining a clean police station, the PS was given tenth place of the 1,600 police stations. A team from Delhi visited the police station and studied the proactive and reactive response, utilization of technology, facilities and cleanness. The team also collected feedback from the public. Based on the study, the police station was ranked tenth.
