Hyderabad: Daniel Jarvis is now a familiar name for Indian cricket fans after his exploits on the cricket field, though not exactly with the ball or bat.
Jarvis, popular as Jarvo and Jarvo 69, had hit sports page headlines in India after his pitch invasions during the India-England Test series, with his act of walking out to bat, fully padded up after Rohit Sharma’s wicket fell in the Headingley Test, being used by the Cyberabad Cybercrime wing to create awareness on fake online websites and products.
Jarvis, who retweeted the Telangana Today report on how the cops in Cyberabad were using his example as part of their battle against cybercrime, responded as well, in his usual lighthearted way.
“Wow. I’m still doing some good. LOL.” (sic) he tweeted in reply to this correspondent’s tweet on the report, hinting that though he was banned from the Headingley cricket ground after the pitch invasion, his act was helping the war against cybercrime in these parts of the world.
Jarvis, who calls himself a comedian, film maker and prank-star, as his Twitter bio says, is a popular YouTuber under the name BMW Jarvo, with around 1.17 lakh subscribers. His pitch invasion videos, especially the one in which he claims to have ‘become India’s first white batsman’, too have garnered several lakhs of views.
