Jewellery theft ring busted in Nirmal; Three from Maharashtra arrested

Nirmal: Police busted a three-member gang allegedly involved in burglaries at jewellery outlets in the district by arresting three persons. They seized 2.7 kilograms of silver, 17 grams of gold, Rs 2,700 in cash and a motorcycle from the three.
Briefing details of the arrests to the media persons here on Thursday, Superintendent of Police Dr Janaki Sharmila said the arrested were Raju Singh Mohan Singh Bhavari, Sevak Singh Raghuveer Singh and Surdeep Singh Johny, all daily-wage earners from Umri in Maharashtra. They were stealing gold, silver ornaments by breaking open the shutters of the jewellery shops in Nirmal.
On being interrogated, the three confessed to burglaries as they were addicted to liquor and wanted to lead a lavish lifestyle. They admitted to stealing gold, silver and cash from jewellery stores located in different parts of the district for a considerable period of time. They revealed that they were travelling by bikes at night to commit the offence.
The accused persons further told the investigating officials that they were daily-wage earners, but were engaged in burglaries as they were dissatisfied with their income. A special team led by Soan Inspector G Govardhan Reddy was formed to apprehend the accused persons.
