Karimnagar: In a rate gesture, the alumni of the Jyothismathi Institute of Technology and Sciences (JITS) donated Rs one lakh financial assistance to the family members of an alumnus of the college, who succumbed to the deadly virus while undergoing treatment in Hyderabad hospital.
The first batch (1997-2001) alumnus of the JITS in Karimnagar town K Santosh Kumar had succumbed to the Covid virus while undergoing treatment in a hospital in Hyderabad on June 3 and his wife K Rajani is still undergoing treatment in the same hospital for the virus and is on oxygen.
The JITS alumni association living in other countries viz Kalyan, Kishore, Vishnu, Ch Ramesh, Ekambareshwara Swamy, S Gopal Reddy and others expressed their deep condolences and donated Rs one lakh financial assistance to the family members.
Accordingly, JITS alumni association treasurer Radhika Reddy had visited the house of the Covid victim Santosh Kumar in Vidyanagar locality in Karimnagar town on Saturday and handed over the cheque amount donated by the alumni association of the college to his father and son.
JITS chairman J Sagar Rao appreciated the gesture of the alumni for coming forward and expressing solidarity for the family of their friend and sending a message of hope and care to the alumni members. College principals G Laxminarayana and PK Vaishali and other faculty members also expressed their condolences to the bereaved family.
