Hyderabad: Demanding promotion of BPharmacy fourth-year detained students based on the December 2023 circular, JNTU-Hyderabad students staged a protest in front of the administrative building here on Thursday.
Students Protection Force activists Javvaji Dileep and Rahul Naik said hundreds of students studying in JNTU-Hyderabad affiliated BPharmacy colleges were detained citing a circular issued in December 2025. Protesters questioned the university on how hall tickets were issued for the fourth-year first-semester exams when students allegedly did not have the required credits.
According to the protesters, students were promoted to the third year based on the December 2023 rules and have already written the fourth-year semester exams. “But now announcing that they are detained has created severe confusion among the students,” they said, seeking that the same regulations followed for promotions from the second year to the third year be applied for promoting students from the third year to the fourth year.
Student leaders Jayaram, Sagar, Rajkumar, Vasanth, Varun, Robin, Bhanu Prasad, Durga Prasad, Mahesh, Vishal, Srikanth among others participated in the protest.
