Hyderabad: The significant delay by the State government in issuing orders that determine local and non-local quota seats has led to the postponement of the TG EAPCET 2025 registration process.
As per the earlier schedule, the online application process was to begin on Tuesday. However, it has now been pushed to March 1, according to JNTU-Hyderabad, which is conducting the entrance test.
Thousands of students, who were eagerly waiting to apply for the entrance test on Tuesday, faced frustration as they struggled to access the TG EAPCET application portal throughout the morning.
The issue stemmed from the State government’s non-approval of the local and non-local quota seats in the entrance tests for admissions to various professional programmes in the State.
So far, as per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014, 85 per cent of seats in higher education institutions in Telangana are reserved for OU area (Telangana) locals.
The remaining i.e., 15 per cent is open for all, allowing students from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to compete for the seats in this quota. As the 10-year common admission period concluded this academic year, the State government constituted a three-member committee led by TGCHE Chairman Prof V Balakista Reddy.
One of the committee’s recommendations is to allocate 95 per cent of the seats to Telangana residents and the remaining five per cent to non-State students who are children of Telangana employees, spouses of employees and Telangana locals residing outside the State.
