JNTU-Hyderabad to shift Pharmacy Department to Sultanpur
From academic year 2025-26, BPharmacy, MPharmacy and PhD admissions in Pharmacy will be offered to students in Sultanpur college

Hyderabad: The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) – Hyderabad has decided to shift its Centre for Pharmaceutical Sciences (CPS) from Hyderabad to University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Sultanpur.
Starting academic year 2025-26, BPharmacy, MPharmacy and PhD admissions in Pharmacy will be offered to students in Sultanpur college. However, students in the existing Centre will continue their academics at the Centre until they graduate from their respective programmes.
The JNTU-Hyderabad had established the CPS in 2007, offering MPharmacy courses with Pharmaceutical Analysis and Quality Assurance, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacognosy as three specializations. With the University setting up a specialised College of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Sultanpur to offer BPharmacy programme in 2021, the varsity administration decided to shift the CPS to Sultanpur.
“Since there is already a full-fledged college in 15 acres in Sultanpur, it has been decided to shift CPS there. Moreover, Sultanpur is surrounded by the pharma industry, making it easy for industrial visit for students,” said Prof. T Kishen Kumar Reddy, Vice Chancellor JNTU-Hyderabad, on Thursday
Meanwhile, the University, in collaboration with the campus, constituent and affiliated colleges, is planning to set up Centres of Excellence in thrust areas including AI and ML, Data Science, Cyber security. The centres will be established based on the expertise of the colleges. The initiative is aimed at taking up research and innovation besides offering PhDs for students in the thrust areas.
