We dedicate our column today to talk about International Education Week (IEW) that the US Consulate General Hyderabad and USIEF Hyderabad are celebrating from November 15-19. IEW, an initiative of the US Department of State and the US Department of Education, celebrates the benefits of international education and exchanges worldwide.
As we all know, international education, learning, and exchanges not only impact the individuals going through the cultural and academic experience in the global setting but also the systems and nations to which they are affiliated.
For Indian students and scholars, the United States has remained the most sought after destination for higher education and exchanges for many years. The colleges and universities in the United States offer high quality education, excellent research resources and infrastructure, flexibility in choice of programmes and coursework, and global recognition with an outstanding reputation for students and scholars affiliated with the institution. No wonder, the US higher education system has continued to attract students from around the world, including India, and the ‘study in America’ dream has endured through multiple generations in the country.
From November 15-19, US Consulate General Hyderabad and the United States-India Educational Foundation (the Fulbright Commission in India) together celebrate the success of US higher education system and welcome you to join the celebrations by participating in the planned events. Also, look out for special announcements and videos on the US Consulate General Hyderabad social media handles. Q. I am applying to US universities for undergraduate programs. Academic transcripts of which grades are to be submitted along with the application? — Shyam Manohar
A. For undergraduate applications, the admissions office reviews academic records of student applicants for the last four years, i.e. records from 9th to 12th standard. If the student is currently in 12th, then the records up to 11th standard are to be submitted at the time of the application, along with possible mid-year grades or predicted scores for 12th standard. The transcript should list all subjects/courses that the student has taken during each year of her or his education, with the corresponding marks/grades received in each subject.
Q. I am interested in applying to nursing programs in the US. I came across the term Nursing CAS. What is it? — Afreen
Nursing CAS is an online application service for students applying to nursing programs at all levels (undergraduate and graduate) in the United States. For the list of participating nursing schools and application procedures, please visit http://nursingcas.org. Students are advised to look up individual nursing program websites for academic eligibility, admission requirements, and procedures. If the nursing school of your choice is not among those participating in the Nursing CAS, then you should apply directly to the respective school.
