Jubilee Hills verdict is in favour of AIMIM, not Congress, says BJP

BJP state president N Ramchander Rao has alleged that the Congress victory in the Jubilee Hills by-poll was possible only with AIMIM’s support, noting that candidate V Naveen Yadav had earlier contested on an AIMIM ticket. Hyderabad: BJP state president N Ramchander Rao on Friday said the Jubilee Hills bypoll verdict was not in favour of the Congress but of the AIMIM, arguing that Congress candidate V Naveen Yadav had previously contested on an AIMIM ticket.

He said people voted considering the Congress nominee as an AIMIM-backed candidate and added that the Congress itself had acknowledged that the victory was possible only with AIMIM’s support. Speaking at a press conference here, he alleged that the Congress won the bypoll by misusing government resources and through money and muscle power.

Rao said that while the BJP finished third in the Jubilee Hills by-election, the Congress should remember that it had lost deposits in the Dubbak, Huzurabad and Munugode bypolls.

He expressed confidence that Hyderabad voters would support the BJP in the coming GHMC elections, claiming that people feared ‘atrocities’ by the Congress and AIMIM in the city. He said voters across Telangana were inclined towards supporting a double-engine government in the next Assembly elections.

BJP candidate Lankala Deepak Reddy also alleged that the Congress had won the bypoll through money distribution and misuse of government machinery.
