Peddapalli: A Manthani court on Saturday remanded to judicial custody the three accused in the brutal murder of lawyer couple Gattu Vamana Rao and PV Nagamani near Kalvacherla in Peddapalli district on Wednesday. They were shifted to the Karimnagar district prison late on Friday evening.
The police produced the accused — Kunta Srinivas, S Chiranjeevi and Akkapaka — before the Principal Magistrate of First Class Court at around 11 pm on Friday. After questioning them for half an hour, judge Nageshwar Rao remanded the accused to a 14-day judicial custody.
Earlier, police led by ACP Umender took the accused to the murder spot near Kalvacherla in Ramagiri mandal for reconstructing the scene.
Though the three were to be produced before the court during the day, it was delayed as they had to undergo Covid tests in the Godavarikhani area hospital. Meanwhile, Bittu Srinivas, who was arrested by the police for arranging vehicle and sickles, was also questioned.
