Justice P C Ghose commission to resume open inquiry on Friday

This comes after a key meeting on Thursday between Justice Ghose and Irrigation Secretary Rahul Bojja, where they discussed the progress of the final reports from the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) and the vigilance department, both of which are conducting simultaneous investigations into the project, sources revealed.

Hyderabad: The Judicial Commission, led by Justice P.C. Ghose, is set to resume its open inquiry into the construction of the three barrages of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS) on Friday.

This follows a crucial meeting between Justice Ghose and Irrigation Secretary Rahul Bojja on Thursday, where the status of the final reports of the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) and the vigilance department that are simultaneously probing the construction of the project came up for discussion, according to sources.

Seven senior officers of the rank of Chief Engineers will appear before the commission today. In total, 25 officers are scheduled to appear in this session, following the questioning of 15 officers during the last session in August.

A total of 65 officers, including secretaries and chief engineers directly or indirectly involved in the construction of the barrages, have submitted affidavits detailing the protocols observed during construction. They will all appear for the open inquiry, they said.
