Hyderabad: The issue of mass tree felling in 400 acres land at Kancha Gachibowli has reached the Supreme Court, which on Thursday directed the Registrar (Judicial) of the Telangana High Court to visit the site personally and submit an interim report by 3:30 PM today.
The matter, which was urgently mentioned by Senior Advocate K Parameshwar, is scheduled to be taken up by the Supreme Court at 3:45 PM.
According to legal news publication Live Law, the Supreme Court cited the environmental concerns surrounding the alleged large-scale destruction of trees, and directed the Chief Secretary of Telangana to ensure that no further felling takes place until further orders.
Senior Advocate Dr Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing in the case on behalf of the State government, submitted that the Telangana High Court is already seized of the matter. However, the Supreme Court clarified that it did not stay the proceedings before the High Court.
