Karimnagar: District Collector RV Karnan and Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana on Monday visited Chalmeda Ananda Rao Institute of Medical Sciences where 42 medical students tested positive for Covid-19.

Interacting with institute’s Chairman Chalmeda Laxminarsimha Rao, they enquired about the present status in the college and advised the management to take precautionary measures to check the spread of virus to other students. They instructed the management to take steps for early recovery of the infected students by providing better treatment.

Warning of serious action if anyone was found without face masks, they said that everybody must maintain physical distance, wear masks and wash hands frequently to check the spread of the virus.

Meanwhile, District Medical and Health Officer Dr Juveria, addressing a press conference, said 42 medical students were infected by the virus as against 364 medicos who underwent Covid tests. Informing that infected students were kept in home isolation, she said that they were trying to find out the primary contacts of the affected students.

Since there was slight spurt in Covid cases, people must follow covid norms and wear face masks, maintain physical distance and wash hands frequently. Advising the people to stay away from marriages and other functions, she said that if necessary, they should attend functions strictly following covid norms.
