Karimnagar:  Congress party leaders and workers staged protest demonstrations in all constituency headquarters across the erstwhile Karimnagar district against a rise in prices of diesel, petrol, cooking gas, electricity and bus fares. They demanded that the State and Central governments purchase paddy produced by farmers in the State.

As part of State-wide call given by TPCC president A Revanth Reddy, Congress leaders and activists staged dharnas and rasta rokos after taking out rallies in all constituency headquarters. They raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for creating trouble for the common public and farmers.

While MLC T Jeevan Reddy took out a rally and staged dharna at Jagtial collectorate, Manthani MLA D Sridhar Babu participated in a protest demonstration held in Manthi. Former MP Ponnam Prabhakar staged dharna at Karimnagar collectorate, former MLA Ch Vijayaramana Rao staged rasta roko at Kaman in Peddapalli town. Speaking on the occasion, they alleged that both state and central governments were playing with the lives of farmers by blaming each other over the issue of the purchase of paddy. They wanted the government to purchase crops by setting up paddy purchasing centers.
