Karimnagar Diamonds beat Ranga Reddy Risers by 58 runs in TG20 League
Rahul Radesh's 72 and HK Simha's 60 helped Karimnagar Diamonds post 230 for 5 before Narayana Teja and fellow bowlers restricted Ranga Reddy Risers to 172 for 9, sealing a convincing 58-run victory in the TG20 League
Hyderabad: Karimnagar Diamonds notched up a 58-run win against second-placed Ranga Reddy Risers in the TG20 League cricket championship at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium here on Thursday.
With this win, Diamonds now have six points from five matches with three wins and two losses, while Risers also have six points from five matches.
Chasing a difficult target of 230, Risers were rarely in the hunt, losing wickets at regular intervals. Apart from a fighting knock by Aditya Javvaji (48, 31b, 4×4, 3×6) and, earlier, a breezy innings by opener Gnana Reddy (23, 11b, 5×4), there was nothing to cheer about.
The batters found the bowling of pacer Rathlavath Dinesh (two for 25), left-arm spinner Shubham Sharma (two for 38) and the leg-spin duo of Narayana Teja (three for 25) and Ashish Srivastav (one for 19) too good to handle.
Earlier, put into bat, Karimnagar Diamonds scored 230 for five in 20 overs with HK Simha (60, 38b, 5×4, 3×6) and wicketkeeper-batter Rahul Radesh (72, 37b, 7×4, 4×6) being the main contributors.
Openers Satwik Reddy (24, 13b, 2×4, 2×6) and captain Tanmay Agarwal (29, 16b, 3×4, 2×6) scored at a brisk pace, putting on 42 in 4.1 overs before left-arm spinner Tanay Thyagarajan got rid of the former. Later, pacer Tanay Jaddu dismissed Tanmay to make it 60 for two in 5.4 overs.
Then, Simha and Radesh, who scored a century in the previous game, stitched together a 123-run stand for the third wicket, treating the bowling on merit and with great discipline.
Cameos by Chandan Sahani (19, 10b, 1×4, 1×6) and Shubham Sharma (17 n.o., 7b, 2×4, 1×6) ensured Diamonds posted a challenging score.
Pacer Aryan Cariappa (4-0-60-0) was the most expensive, while Tanay Jaddu picked up two for 47.
