Karimnagar: Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar on Thursday warned of serious action against private nursing homes indulging in black marketing of Covid medicines.
“It has come to our notice that some hospitals are involved in black marketing of Remdesivir injections as well as oxygen and selling them at higher prices taking advantage of the helplessness of patients,” he said.
Stating that Covid vigilance and task force teams were formed to check the black marketing of medicines, he warned of severe action if any hospital tries to amass excess money by black marketing medicines and oxygen.
Meanwhile, the Minister laid foundation stone for construction of CC road in 59th division and park in Padmanagar on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Kamalakar said he would discuss with Health Minister about shortage of medicines.
The State government had brought the issue of shortage of Remdesivir and oxygen to the notice of the Centre, he said and informed that arrangements had been made to bring oxygen to the district from Visakhapatnam Steel Plant on war footing.
Adequate doses of Remdesivir injections were made available by consulting with pharma companies, he said and advised hospitals to bring the issue to the notice of the State government if any hospital had not got stocks as per indent.
Talking about the town’s development, Kamalakar said Karimnagar, which was in the eighth position earlier, was competing for second place in the State.
It had been materialised only because of a comprehensive plan designed by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for development of towns. As part of the plan, funds had directly been allocated to municipalities, he added.
Several government and municipal lands had been occupied by land grabbers due to the negligence of previous governments. Later, the land disputes were fought in the courts. Karimnagar Municipal Corporation won 15 such cases in the courts. Parks, walking tracks, open gyms and playgrounds have been developed in those lands.
Karimnagar Mayor Y Sunil Rao, Deputy Mayor Ch Swaroopa Rani and others participated in the programme.
