Karimnagar police book 422 persons in crackdown on illegal sand mining
Karimnagar Commissionerate Police intensified their crackdown on illegal sand mining, registering 245 FIRs and booking 422 persons between January and March. Police also seized 357 vehicles involved in illegal sand transportation during the enforcement drive.

Karimnagar: Karimnagar Commissionerate Police are taking strict measures on illegal transportation, storage and sale of sand. As part of their steps, a special drive was taken up in the month of March. Besides registering 120 FIRs, cases were registered on 161 persons. 139 vehicles involved in illegal transportation of sand were seized.
A total of 245 FIRs were registered from January to March of this year. Besides seizing 357 vehicles, cases were registered on 422 persons. Commissioner of Police Gaush Alam, in a statement, said that there was no question of allowing illegal sand mining since it was hindering the income to the government besides causing damage to the environment.
Concern police stations were instructed for intensification of vigilance and checking to put an end to illegal sand mining, CP said.
