Karimnagar-Warangal set for inauguration in October

National Highway 563 between Jagtial and Warangal is set to open to the public soon after a trial run began on September 5. The 68-km four-lane stretch, built at Rs 2,486 crore, is expected to reduce travel time.

Karimnagar: The stage is set to formally inaugurate the much awaited national highway 563 from Jagtial to Warangal soon. The facility will end the woes of motorists, besides reducing travelling distance by 5 kilometers between the two cities.

The 68 km long four-lane national highway has been built between Hanamkonda and Durshed of Karimnagar Rural mandal, spending Rs 2,486 crore. Trial run of traffic on the highway commenced on September 5. Arrangements are being made to throw the facility open to the public in a few weeks. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to virtually inaugurate the highway in October.

The highway is a part of a large corridor linking Jagtial and Khammam. The highway between Karimnagar and Hanamkonda features nine major bridges, 23 minor bridges, 25 underpasses, 5 bypasses. It is equipped with an advanced traffic management system such as Pan Tilt Zoom solar-powered cameras for every 2 kms, variable message signs and real-time traffic violation identification systems.

The project also has 24/7 incident management with ambulances, cranes, route patrol vehicles and a helpline posted every 5 kms. Median plantation has been created to avoid lighting of vehicles on vehicles coming from opposite directions. Water recharge pits were constructed to restore ground water. A toll plaza has been erected at Kothagattu.

Locals expressed happiness over the facility. They said that they would be able to reach Warangal in 45 minutes with the advent of the Greenfield highway. They opined that they could save both time and fuel. They remarked that the project would boost the agriculture economy and can be a boon for the granite industry.
