Hyderabad: Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy warned of intensified protests if the proposed dumping yard at Sirasapalli is not cancelled. He opposed the plan to shift waste from the erstwhile Karimnagar and Warangal districts to his constituency.
Speaking to mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan on Friday, the Huzurabad MLA said protests have been continuing for 25 days at Ambedkar Chowrastha, with participation from all political parties. He announced that a Joint Action Committee of political parties and civil organisations will launch a Padayatra from April 22, if the government fails to withdraw the proposed plan.
Kaushik Reddy said he was threatened with a CB-CID inquiry for opposing the project, which he claimed was being handed over to the Adani Group. He said he would not be intimidated. He argued the dumping yard would harm farmers, reduce land value, and affect public health. He also raised concerns over a temple located at the proposed site and vowed to resist any move to remove it.
He questioned local leaders over their silence and urged public support for the agitation, asserting there would be no compromise on cancelling the project.
