Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is holding its crucial executive body meeting on Wednesday afternoon, chaired by party president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. The high-profile gathering at Telangana Bhavan has the participation of party working president KT Rama Rao, members of the State executive, district party presidents, sitting and former MPs, MLCs, MLAs, former chairpersons of various corporation and zilla parishads, DCCB and DCMS presidents, and constituency in-charges, among others.
Chandrashekhar Rao, who arrived at Telangana Bhavan to a warm welcome from the party office in-charge and party general secretary Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy and other senior leaders, is leading discussions on strengthening the party at all levels. A key focus will be the upcoming silver jubilee celebrations, marking 25 years since the party’s inception. He is scheduled to outline strategies for membership registration and party restructuring, emphasising grassroots mobilisation from village-level units.
The meeting, attended by around 400 senior leaders from across the State, will also address major political and social issues. The party supremo is likely to discuss about organised struggles on matters like crop loan waivers, Rythu Bharosa, land rights, attacks on Dalits, farmers’ suicides, HYDRAA demolitions, Lagacherla arrests of farmers and increasing suicides among Gurukul students. He will also deliberate on challenges faced by auto workers and the alleged political targeting of the BRS cadre and social media activists.
With the Congress government facing growing criticism, Chandrashekhar Rao called for a renewed fight on behalf of the people, directing leaders to gear up for an active role in State politics.
KCR visits Regional Passport Office
Earlier in the day, Chandrashekhar Rao visited the Regional Passport Office in Secunderabad to renew his passport. He was accompanied by his wife Shobha. He reportedly submitted his diplomatic passport and renewed his personal passport.
Ahead of the party executive body meeting at Telangana Bhavan, Chandrashekhar Rao went to the RPO from his Erravelli residence to complete the formalities. Sources indicate that he is likely to visit the United States next month, where he is expected to spend time with his grandson, Himanshu.
