Yadadri-Bhongir: Nakrekal MLA Chirumarthi Lingaiah on Sunday said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who was committed to the uplift of Dalits, was a true Ambedkarite. Speaking at an awareness programme on Dalit Bandhu scheme at Kunkudupamula village of Ramannapet mandal in the district, Lingaiah said the Chief Minister has been striving to establish a society that was the dream of Dr B R Ambedkar.

“The State government launched Dalit Bandhu to help dalits, who remained workers for decades, emerge as owners of businesses. Chandrashekhar Rao is the only political leader to follow the principles of Ambedkar to bring about a qualitative change in the lives of Dalits in the State,” he added. Stating that a conspiracy was hatched by some political leaders to divide Dalits for their own selfish interests, Lingaiah underlined the need for unity among Dalits.

Welfare of Dalits has been top priority in the policies of the State government due to the commitment of the Chief Minister towards their uplift, he pointed out. The State government also started residential schools in large numbers to provide quality education to the poor and dalits free of cost, he added. He cited the Rythu Bandhu programme as an example of the commitment of the Chief Minister on implementation of any scheme taken up by his government. “Every Dalit family in the State would be covered under Dalit Bandhu scheme in a phased manner,” he added.
