KCR praises NTR for Rs 2 rice scheme, Baga Reddy for his simplicity

Stating that there used to be starvation deaths in the State till a few decades ago, the Chief Minister praised NTR for coming up with the Rs 2 per kg rice scheme

Siddipet: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday recalled the services of fomer Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh N T Rama Rao and late Congress leader and former Minister M Baga Reddy, a seven time MLA and four time MP from Zaheerabad  Assembly constituency and Medak Lok Sabha constituency respectively.

Stating that there used to be starvation deaths in the State till a few decades ago, the Chief Minister praised NTR for coming up with the Rs 2 per kg rice scheme through fair price shops. Chandrashekhar Rao said he introduced Rs 1 a kg rice scheme and also increased the quantity of rice to 6 Kg per beneficiary.


Recalling Baga Reddy’s simplicity and his committment to public issues, he said the former used to attend even Zilla Parishad meetings without a miss though he was a senior leader. Stating that people always support leaders who work for people, he said the people of Siddipet had sent A Madan Mohan to the Assembly four times since they were impressed by his committed participation in the first phase of Telangana movement.

Pointing out that his followers were worried when he asked the people of Siddipet constituency to vote for him only if they were happy with his work, the Chief Minister said Siddipet elected him six times.
