Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will launch the Telangana Dalit Bandhu scheme formally at Shalapalli in Huzurabad Assembly constituency on Monday. He will hand over certificates to select beneficiaries sanctioning financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh each under the scheme which will be implemented in the constituency as a pilot project.
As per estimates, there are about 20,929 Dalit families with a population of around 70,000 in Huzurabad Assembly constituency, and the scheme will be implemented on saturation mode. The State government had already released Rs 500 crore for implementing the scheme in Huzurabad constituency, which will cater to around 5,000 Dalit families in the first phase. Arrangements have been made to deposit Rs 10 lakh each into the bank accounts of nearly 2,000 eligible beneficiaries under the scheme on Monday itself.
The officials have already prepared a list of potential businesses or self-employment opportunities for the beneficiaries. They will guide the beneficiaries who are unable to decide their future course of action to achieve financial and social empowerment using the funds. Arrangements also have been made to constantly monitor every beneficiary along with their progress in optimum utilisation of the funds provided by the State government.
A separate Dalit Protection Fund will also be created with beneficiaries’ and government contributing Rs 10,000 each to provide necessary financial support to the beneficiaries if they suffer setbacks in their ventures. Dalit Bandhu Samithis will be established at village, mandal, constituency, district and State level on the lines of Rythu Bandhu Samithis, and they will manage the protection fund. The District collectors will play a crucial role in the implementation of Dalit Bandhu and supervision of the Dalit Protection Fund.
