Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior BRS leader G Jagadish Reddy announced that BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao would soon announce a course of action to protect Telangana’s rightful share of Krishna river waters.
He urged for public preparedness for another big fight to defend the State’s interests in the wake of the Congress government’s complete failure to protect Telangana’s rightful share in Krishna waters.
Citing the Krishna River Management Board’s (KRMB) latest data, Jagadish Reddy said Andhra Pradesh had used 74 per cent of the river waters, while Telangana was left with less than 24 per cent. “The BRS has been warning for long. Now, KRMB has confirmed our fears. This is a betrayal of Telangana by the Congress government,” he said, demanding that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and his Cabinet Ministers apologise to the people.
He stated that that despite Andhra Pradesh lifting 65 TMC of water, Telangana Ministers from Krishna basin districts remained silent. He said the Congress Ministers were more focused on commissions and lobbying in Delhi than saving farmers.
The former Minister pointed out that under the BRS regime, Telangana had utilised over 38 per cent of Krishna River waters. He warned that continued negligence would lead to further erosion of the State’s rights.
“History will not forgive this inaction by the Congress,” he cautioned.
