Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s visit to Delhi and his meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has become a bitter pill to swallow for the BJP State leadership ahead of the Huzurabad byelections. While the BJP State leaders have been indulging in scathing criticism against the TRS government day after day, the warm welcome extended to the Chief Minister by none other than the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister Amit Shah has become unpalatable for the local BJP leaders.

Chandrashekhar Rao went to New Delhi on a three-day visit to lay foundation stone for the TRS party office in the national capital. However, his visit got extended by at least two more days after the Prime Minister as well as the Union Home Minister immediately responded to his request for a meeting with them. He had called on Prime Minister Modi on Friday and sought his intervention on 10 issues pertaining to funds from the Centre and development of the State. Modi had not only responded positively, but also readily accepted the Chief Minister’s invitation to attend the inauguration ceremony of the renovated Yadadri temple.

On Saturday, the Chief Minister received a warm welcome from Union Home Minister Amit Shah where he sought a review of the IPS cadre in the State and enhance the senior level posts by 29 from the existing 76 to a total 105 senior duty posts. He also sought complete funding of road works in the Naxal-affected districts. Amit Shah too responded positively to the requests made by the Chief Minister and assured to initiate action in this regard at the earliest.

Interestingly, the Chief Minister’s meeting with the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister lasted for about 50 minutes and 45 minutes respectively. It may be noted that Chandrashekhar Rao had no prior appointments with either and his requests for the meetings, were accommodated by the top leaders within a short span of less than 24 hours after receiving his request. The Prime Minister agrees to meet the Chief Ministers and any other delegates at such a short notice, only in exceptional cases.

Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Panchayat Raj Kapil Moreshwar Patil who visited Hyderabad on Friday, too complimented the State government for implementing ‘Palle Pragathi’ programme to resolve long-pending problems in villages in a planned manner. He also appreciated the State government for utilising the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) funds for construction of dumping yards and graveyards and changing the face of villages with programmes taken up under ‘Palle Pragathi’.

The Chief Minister as well as the State government are receiving complete support from the BJP-led Central government, even as the BJP State leadership especially BJP State president Bandi Sanjay as well as Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy are criticising the Chandrashekhar Rao government stating that the Chief Minister was misleading people in the name of implementation of new schemes. They likened the TRS government to that of Nizam’s rule and claim that Sanjay’s Padayatra will end the TRS rule in the State.

Under these circumstances, it has become a challenge for the BJP State leadership to justify their criticism towards the TRS government and Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao as well as the treatment extended to them by the Prime Minister and other Union Ministers.
