Hyderabad: Teaching and non-teaching staff of the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs), Urban Residential Schools (URSs) and Samagra Shiksha employees will be in a protest mode, commencing Monday, demanding the State government resolve their long-pending issues.
According to the Telangana State United Teachers’ Federation (TS UTF), which called for the phased-wise protest, several staff members have been working in these institutions for nearly two decades, yet they receive meagre salaries.
TS UTF president Chava Ravi said that although officials had earlier given assurances regarding service conditions during previous protests, those promises have not been fulfilled. He demanded the government respond immediately and resolve the issues positively.
Demands:
– KGBVs’ special officers recognised as Principals
– Postgraduate contract resident teachers treated as junior lecturers
– Contract resident teachers, physical education teachers and cluster resource persons be recognised as school assistants and be paid a minimum basic salary
– Health cards to ensure health security for employees
Three-phase protest:
– Protest in schools during lunch break while wearing black badges on March 9
– Protest at district and division headquarters on March 16
– Chalo Assembly on March 20, if the government fails to respond to the issues
