Khammam: Bank linkage cheques distributed to women SHGs

Transport Minister P Ajay Kumar distributed bank linkage appreciation cheques worth Rs 50 crore to Zilla Mahila Samakhya

Khammam: Steps were being taken to financially strengthen women self-help groups (SHGs) in the district, informed Transport Minister P Ajay Kumar.

He distributed bank linkage appreciation cheques worth Rs 50 crore to Zilla Mahila Samakhya here on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, he said around 3,000 women from 20 mandals in the district have been sanctioned Rs 35 crore assistance through bank linkage.

The Minister said around 250 women have already started outlets and the remaining women should also start their outlets to sell their products. He asked the members of the women SHGs to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

District Collector, RV Karnan informed that in order to lend financial assistance to women SHGs during the Covid crisis, Rs 10,000 Covid linkage loans were given to women SHGs. The SHGs have to make better use of the loans and repay the loans in time, he said.
