Khammam: District leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) have demanded that the State government release a white paper on the status of Velugumatla Bhoodan lands in Khammam.
Speaking to the media here on Monday, party senior leader Uppala Venkata Ramana alleged that several irregularities had surfaced on the Bhu Bharati Portal with regard to Bhoodan lands at Velugumatla. He said land donated to the Bhoodan Yagna Board, meant for the poor, had become a boon for land grabbers in collusion with some officials and politicians.
As per 1963 land records, 31 acres and 20 guntas in Survey Nos. 147, 148 and 149 were allotted to beneficiaries including Kurrananda, Tulsya, Desya, Sheikh Majeed, Galalu, Akbar, Doma Achaiah, Rentupalli Subbaiah, Palnati Chandraiah and Reddaboina Venkateswarlu. However, the names of original beneficiaries have disappeared from the portal, while new names have appeared, particularly in Survey No. 148. Agricultural land has reportedly been converted into non-agricultural land.
Bhoodan lands were converted into commercial layouts without RDO proceedings, and the names of real beneficiaries in 14 acres of land in Survey No. 149 had vanished, he alleged. There was no match between land donated in 1963 and present records, Venkata Ramana said.
He demanded that the government clarify whether the 31 acres reportedly recovered after demolitions would be returned to the poor or transferred to influential persons.
He accused Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy of blaming the previous government for the present evictions. He also warned that the alleged atrocities by followers of Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao would not be tolerated.
Party leaders Bellam Venugopal, Bhashaboina Veeranna, Pagadala Narender, Lingaboina Satish and Balusu Murali Krishna were present.
